## Differences from the old HUGE

The older HUGE comes as the wireless M-HT1DR and the wired M-HT1UR. Side by side, using KeyLab DB values:

| Item | HUGE PLUS (M-HT1MR) | HUGE (M-HT1DR, wireless) | HUGE (M-HT1UR, wired) |
| -------------- | --------------------------------------------- | ------------------------ | --------------------- |
| Ball | 52mm | 52mm | 52mm |
| Ball support | Bearing | Ruby | Ruby |
| Weight | 279g (without receiver) | 260g (without batteries) | 268g (with cable) |
| Buttons | 10 (incl. wheel and tilt) | 8 (incl. wheel button) | 8 (same) |
| Silent buttons | Yes | — | — |
| Connectivity | Wired + 2.4GHz + Bluetooth | 2.4GHz | Wired |
| Power | Rechargeable | 2 × AA | USB powered |
| Supported OS | Win / Mac / ChromeOS / iPadOS / iOS / Android | Win / Mac | Win / Mac |

The ball size and body (114.7 × 181.9 × 57.2mm) are the same. What changed is the **ball support, silent buttons, connectivity and power**. "10" versus "8" buttons may be counted differently, so the numbers alone do not rank the models.

On the bearing, Lifehacker Japan says it uses a high-performance bearing from MinebeaMitsumi. How the ball rolls feels different to different people, so this article does not call either better.

## Who it suits

**A good fit**

- People who want a big ball and to rest their hand on the body
- People who switch between several PCs and tablets over Bluetooth (up to 3)
- People who want quieter clicks (silent buttons)
- People who would rather not replace batteries (rechargeable)

**Not a good fit**

- People who want to carry it. At 181.9mm deep and 279g, it is built to stay on a desk.
- People who want battery power. It is rechargeable only (older models use batteries or USB power).
- People with small hands who find a large body awkward. Try it in person if you can.
