Switch Overview

The Cherry Hirose Orange linear switches were originally found in audio sequencers in the late 1980s. They were discontinued for decades, and became legendary in the mechanical keyboard community for commanding dozens of dollars for a single switch in the aftermarket. In their latest MX2A iteration, the Cherry Orange switches feature the classic Cherry "chalky" sound profile with added smoothness from factory lubrication. They also differ from the recent Nixie switches by being slightly deeper sounding. Below is a sound test of the new Cherry Orange switches: The added factory lube gives it smoothness and further sound dampening. Below is a sound test of the Cherry Orange switches: The Cherry Orange switches are lubricated from the factory, but they may benefit from further lubrication if spring ping or excessive scratchiness is an issue. We recommend Krytox 205g0 for these switches. Cherry Orange switches only get better with time: after breaking them in for a few weeks, you'll notice an improvement in feel and sound!
