Switch Overview
Goat Works abandoned the deliberately retained material friction (the “sandy” feel) from the initial design, and instead refined this switch into a “modern OG” switch with an extremely smooth typing experience. The lubrication approach went through multiple iterations. In the end, we did not use HuanNuo’s PR05 lubricant. Due to its relatively high fluidity, and because the lubrication points are located at the contact areas between the leaf and stem legs as well as the spring seat in the bottom housing, it would need to be applied via nozzle spraying. During application, there was a risk of the lubricant splashing onto the step area, which could cause a muted or “dead” bottom-out sound when the stem hits the housing. For these reasons, we ultimately worked with our partner to set up a dedicated production line and developed an exclusive lubricant, GN01. Its performance is similar to Krytox 3204 in terms of lubricating the spring and leaf, and it performed excellently across all aspe...
