Lofree Flow Lite 2: 84 vs 100 Keys and What Changed
Introduction
The Lofree Flow Lite 2 is the successor to the Flow Lite, a low-profile wireless keyboard. It comes in 84 keys (75%) and 100 keys (96%), and both are listed in KeyLab DB.
Using KeyLab DB listings and Lofree's product pages, this article covers how the two sizes differ, what changed from the original Flow Lite, and how it compares with the aluminum Flow 2.
The short answer
| If you... | Fit |
|---|---|
| Want a light, thin low-profile board to carry | The 84-key fits. At 536g, it is the lightest Lofree 84-key board in KeyLab DB |
| Need a number pad | The 100-key fits. A 96% layout with a number pad, at 625g |
| Are thinking of upgrading from the original Flow Lite | Worth a look if battery (on the 84-key) and remapping freedom matter to you |
| Want an aluminum finish or a touch bar | Not a fit. The case is ABS. Aluminum and the touch bar are on the Flow 2 |
| Want standard-size (MX-compatible) switches or keycaps | Not a fit. The switches are low-profile only |

How the two sizes differ
The case, switches, battery, and connectivity are shared; only the layout and size differ. The 100-key adds a number pad and navigation cluster to the 84-key for a 96% layout, making it 57mm wider and 89g heavier.
The price difference is $10. A simple way to choose: the 84-key if you carry it, the 100-key if it stays on your desk and you type a lot of numbers.
What changed from the original Flow Lite
Based on KeyLab DB listings. The original 84-key model has no remapping software listed.
| Spec | Flow Lite84 → Flow Lite 2 84 | Flow Lite100 → Flow Lite 2 100 |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 23.5mm → 22mm | 23.5mm → 22mm |
| Depth | 138mm → 142.5mm | 138mm → 142.5mm |
| Weight | 550g → 536g | 658g → 625g |
| Battery | 2,000 mAh → 3,000 mAh | 3,000 mAh (unchanged) |
| Rated battery life | 80 hours → 100 hours | 100 hours (unchanged) |
| Remapping | — → Lofree Hub / VIA | Custom software → Lofree Hub / VIA |
The biggest change is that the 84-key now has the same 3,000 mAh battery as the 100-key. On the original, only the 84-key had 2,000 mAh; on the Flow Lite 2, both sizes have the same battery life.
The other is VIA support. With VIA, you can change keymaps and macros from a browser without installing dedicated software.
The board is 1.5mm lower, but 4.5mm deeper.
How it differs from the aluminum Flow 2
Lofree also makes the Flow 2, a low-profile board with an aluminum case. Comparing the 84-key versions makes their different characters clear.
| Spec | Flow Lite 2 84 | Flow 2 84 |
|---|---|---|
| Case | ABS | Aluminum (anodized) |
| Weight | 536g | 745g |
| Size | 317mm W × 142.5mm D × 22mm H | 341.2mm W × 126mm D × 21.5mm H |
| Switches | Echo (45g) | Cloud series (40gf) |
| Battery | 3,000 mAh (rated 100 hours) | 3,000 mAh (rated 120 hours) |
| Extras | — | Touch bar (volume, brightness), flip-out stand |
The Flow Lite 2 is 209g lighter and about 24mm narrower than the Flow 2. If you do not need the aluminum finish or the touch bar, the Flow Lite 2 is the better one to carry.
About the switches
It ships with Lofree x Kailh Echo switches (45g, POM). KeyLab DB lists the Flow Lite 2's compatible switches as Kailh Choc V2. Choc V2 switches come in many types, from silent and linear to tactile and clicky, and we sort them out in How to Choose Kailh Choc V2 Switches.
Editor's note
The KeyLab DB editor has also ordered a Flow Lite 2. Once it arrives, we plan to add notes on typing feel, sound, and portability to this article.
Comparing with other 75% boards
Other low-profile 75% boards include the CNC aluminum ATK Yogo 75 Pro (880g) and the ABS NuPhy Air75 V3 (724g). For a comparison that also covers standard-profile and magnetic boards, see How to Choose a 75% Keyboard.
